凯瑟琳升职记:入职篇之别挑剔了

由于工作出色，Catherine得到了升职，连办公室也换了。Catherine来到新办公室，发现一切都很好，就是面积不是很大。她小声说出自己的意思后，好友Jane赶紧把她拉到一旁，说：Don't knock it! Catherine听后不解，心想：我敲什么了？这里没什么易碎玻璃之类的呀？Jane看出了Catherine的迷惑。

珍妮：哎，你一定是在考虑knock这个词的意思吧？

Catherine: You said it! you told me not to knock it, knock what?

珍妮：Don't knock it这个句子总是用于劝说一个人要知足。知道吗，你这个人太难满足。
Don't knock it!别挑剔了！

Don't knock it这个短语的表面意思是“不要敲它”，但在口语中，它的引申义却是“不要再折腾它了，别挑剔了，满足吧“。试想，一个好端端的玩意儿摆在你面前，你非要拿起来这敲敲，那碰碰，明摆着是鸡蛋里头挑骨头吗，所以Don't knock it就是告诉你别挑剔了，这已经不错了。
