(Nancy and Dave meet in a small pub.)

南希：打扰一下。对不起，我盯着你看了好几分钟了，我在什么地方见过你吧？
Nancy: Excuse me. Sorry I’ve been looking at you for the last few minutes, but don’t I know you from somewhere?

戴夫：不，不，我没有印象。
Dave: No, no, I don’t think so.

南希：是吗？你真的没有印象吗？我忍不住一个劲儿地回忆，因为只要是我见过的人我就能记住他（她）的长相。等一下．你是在芝加哥长大的吧？
Nancy: Really? Are you sure? This is driving me crazy because I never forget a face. Wait a minute, did you grow up in Chicago?

戴夫：是啊，确实是。
Dave: Yes, I did, as a matter of fact.

南希：我想我们可能上的是同一所中学。也许你在中区中学读过书？
Nancy: I think maybe we went to the same high school. Did you, by any chance, go to Central High?

戴夫：太对了。
Dave: Yes!

南希：你还记得我吗？我是南希呀，南希• 里德。上数学课我常常坐在你的后面。
Nancy: Do you remember me? I’m Nancy, Nancy Reid. I used to sit behind you in our math class.

戴夫：我是戴夫•米歇尔。哎呀！毕业这么多年了，你竟然还能认出我来，真不可思议。
Dave: I’m Dave Mitchell. Wow! I can’t believe you recognized me after all these years!

南希：是啊，这世界可真小啊。
Nancy: Yeah, this is really a small world.
